Capitol GrilleWebsiteWith a storied and historic past, the Hermitage Hotel is one of the finest hotels in Nashville. And the Capitol Grille one of the best restaurants. Green Hills GrilleWebsiteGreen Hills Grille proves that dining doesn’t have to be pretentious. Located just south of downtown Nashville in the heart of its namesake, the restaurant is both a local hangout and a destination of choice for those visiting the Green Hills neighborhood. A beloved Nashville go-to spot for 20 years, the original Green Hills Grille closed its doors in 2008 but reopened in 2015, under the new ownership of Steven Smithing (also owner of Mere Bulles) who like so many of the staff learned the hospitality business at the original restaurant. Smithing wants to bring back the neighborhood feel and community vibe of the original as well as some of the favorite dishes. The revitalized menu includes many updated twists, but longtime enthusiasts will recognize familiar favorites like the tortilla soup, grilled salmon salad, chicken salad melt, Santa Fe chicken and smoked chicken enchiladas. Newer menu items include flatbreads, sushi, hand-cut steaks and the BLBIGH – the “Best Little Burger in Green Hills. – In keeping with the farm to table trend of the entire nation, the Grille is the first to participate in the Cul2vate program--a new philanthropic garden program that teaches down-on-their-luck adults to garden--then sells the fresh harvest to the Grille. As a result, you'll find several seasonal specials on the menu at all times. Green Hills Grille is located in the Greenbriar Village Shopping Center and serves lunch and dinner seven days a week with brunch available on Saturday and Sunday. |

Lockeland TableWebsiteThis intimate, cozy spot is nestled into the historic neighborhood of its namesake in East Nashville. Woven into its very fabric are elements of the community, history and camaraderie that make up its charm. From the reconstructed storefront that resemble the original 1930s H.G Hills dry goods store, to the center wall built by friends and family, to the comforting dishes paying tribute to Chef Hal’s upbringing, it all represents a piece of Lockeland Table’s foundation. Stop by from 4:00-6:00pm every day for "Community Hour" where a portion of the proceeds are donated to the Lockland Design Center PTO. You can also buy their new cookbook here. |

Martin's BBQ Join"Look, I take a lot of pride in my roots - which is my food and where I learned to cook it. It was taught to me to never cut any corners on anything and that’s a big part of who we are here at Martin's. Just like the old BBQ joints like the ones I learned to cook, we cook everything on our menu fresh for that very day with the goal of running out everyday. That’s right, I want to run out of food everyday because it means you'll never come into Martin's and not get something that was made fresh for you. We don’t have a freezer. We don’t have a microwave. And most importantly, we don’t pre-cook anything and heat it back up. Fresh….every single day….no apologies." - Pat Martin, founder and chef |

Nashville Farmers’ MarketWebsiteIt's summer at The Nashville Farmers' Market (NFM) and things are popping -- kettle corn, doughnuts, greens, corn, tomatoes, watermelon, cheese, free-range chicken, beef, lamb, and crafts. You can find African handmade purses, jewelry, and scarfs, woodworking by One Man One Garage, funky signs, and artwork. And did we mention music? Tired from shopping? Grab a local draught beer from The Picnic Tap, which specializes in Nashville brews, with sampling encouraged. The market is also home to The Edible Kitchen, which has chef demos the first and third Saturday of the month. In addition, the night market happens the second Friday of every month, where vendors stay open from 5-10, with music and drinks in good supply. Inside, the Market House contains over 25 local restaurants, local crafts, music, and beer. The Grow Local Kitchen features new local food entrepreneurs trying out their foods. Since its inception on the town square in the early 1800’s, The Farmers’ Market has been a vital part of Nashville life. Although the market has had several homes, one thing has remained constant; a love of shopping for the best produce, foods, and finds in an exciting community setting. (Note: the market house is currently closed due to the pandemic, but will open soon.) You will find our favorite farmers at the NFM:

MotoWebsiteThe vibrant atmosphere evokes the warmth and soulfulness of the Italian experience. A large bar and lounge area welcomes guests into its ‘enoteca’ inspired environment where wine is king. Moto features over 30 ever-changing wines by the glass and 250 labels in total. The bar also concocts its own house-made limoncello and an inspired mixology list of couture cocktails. Italian for “motion” and the commonly used term for motorcycle or scooter, the word moto has been selected as a moniker for this cultural icon of Italian life. Paying homage to our warehouse location’s former life as a mechanics’ shop on MStreet in the Gulch, Moto Cucina + Enoteca’s design reflects the free spirit and gritty glamour associated with the Italian moto motif.

Saint AñejoWebsiteSaint Añejo is one of the properties of M Street, whose portfolio also includes, Kayne Prime, Virago, Whiskey Kitchen and MOTO all located on McGavock ("M") street in a clump. St Anejo is a Mexican restaurant with killer margarita's, Latin mixology, and a premium tequila and mezcal menu of over 120 labels. Go on a nice day (most in Nashville) when garage doors are thrown open and the place is humming. Get a seat next to the street and watch the valet's try to keep up with the lively crowd pulsating through the neighborhood adjacent to the Gulch. Try the Korean BBQ taco or Cobb Salad, one of the best main dish salads in town.

SILOWebsiteChef Clay Greenberg and Paul Cercone opened SILO in 2012, and their contemporary farm-to-table eatery became quickly embraced by the Germantown neighborhood—and beyond. In designing the menu, seasonality is ever at the forefront for the SILO team. And for their vegetarian plate, they push it further. It’s also vegan and gluten free. Lately, that special plate has had nutrient-dense sorghum seed at its base. “When boiled, they're kind of nutty and eat like wheat berries,” explains Greenberg. “And when you sauté the seeds, they pop, like mini-popcorn.” Summer vegetables—heirloom tomatoes, okra, squash— get a beautiful char before being placed on the sorghum seed “couscous.” Greenberg likes to garnish the plate with dandelion flowers, pickled red onions and that beguiling popped sorghum seed. Switters CoffeeIn 2011, Kyle and Sheri Young fell in love with the iced coffee they had while traveling in Southeast Asia. This iced coffee love affair sparked years of home coffee roasting, experimenting, and planning. All of this eventually led them back to Nashville, TN to start their quest of creating the first Iced Coffee Microbrewery in the United States solely dedicated to producing the best iced coffee in the world...starting with Nashville, TN! Here at Switters we use a modified version of the Japanese Iced Coffee method for our iced coffee. This means we brew our coffee hot and then chill it quickly. We think this is the best way to brew iced coffee as it allows us to bring out complex flavors from our beans & brings a brightness to each cup! Both of our products (Switters Iced Coffee bottles & Kegs) use this method. We're on a mission to deliver the best iced coffee, & we think we're on to something! It’s not cold brew—it’s a new way to ice coffee.

Bang Candy"In May of 2010, my friend Nina and I were enjoying some wine at a local restaurant when we spied upon the desert menu a most intriguing item: 'Hot Chocolate,' thick molten chocolate served in a teapot with handmade marshmallows. We had no resistance and ordered it immediately. That was the first time I had tried a handmade marshmallow. It was delicious and I was curious. I got home, experimented, and before long the Rose Cardamom marshmallow was born. I took some of these to a friends birthday party. They went down a treat and the hostess likened them to "swallowing God in velvet pants!" Who could argue with that? I knew was onto something. The next few months were spent developing new flavors and creating the brand and, in September, The Bang Candy Company was launched as an artisan marshmallow company specializing in candy for the discerning palette. Our marshmallows are crafted in small batches using the finest ingredients—no preservatives, no stabilizers, and no artificial colors or artificial flavors. Next came the syrups, a little something to enliven a glass of Prosecco, beef up a vodka tonic, add a skip in the step of a martini, or splash into some soda water for a refreshing bubbly drink. Today we make eight flavored syrups, including Ginger Rosemary, Habanero Lime, Strawberry Rhubarb, and Lavender Mint. These versatile concoctions can be used in any comestible or libation your imagination can muster. Take a look at our recipe page and see some delicious concoctions our wonderful Bang Candy customers have shared. The Bang Candy Company is owned and run by Sarah Souther who is aided and abetted by a couple of wild and wonderful assistants. In January 2012, The Bang Candy Company's physical location opened up in Marathon Village. The shop serves both as a cafe where one can nibble on all sorts of house-made baked goods and a confectionery production space where you can see each painstaking step of marshmallow and caramel making and all the other ridiculous things we love to do. Featured Artisan: Hunker Bag Co.WebsiteDenton Hunker, the drummer of Green River Ordinance, was on the lookout for a durable, yet stylish bag to use while on the road. When he didn’t come across any products that would keep up with his touring lifestyle, he decided to take matters into his own hands. Turns out, not only is Hunker a rock star on stage, but also on the sewing machine. After a few years of making bags for himself, he felt it only made sense to make the products he loved for other people to enjoy them as well. Thus began Hunker Bag Co. Each bag is made to order with the utmost care and precision using top grain leather, Martexin waxed canvas, all brass hardware and branded with the Hunker logo and while he’s upgraded to a 1970s machine, he still utilizes techniques he learned from his grandmother. Hunker’s mission is to create superior products that people are proud to carry. “I believe that a good bag does two things,” says Hunker. “It holds and protects your personal possessions and takes you on an adventure every day.” Check out their instagram @hunkerbagco to see what they have going on.

The real winners are the Christmas lights-lovers who can tour the lit homes all season. Metro will judge the contest by December 6th this year, but you can tour all month long after the city posts the addresses of entrants. Wrap up your tour with a treat at Goozy, where you can buy a hot chocolate for the little guys, a hot fudge mocha latte for the teens, and—for the grown folks—maybe a hot chocolate with a shot of Bailey’s to bring out your Christmas cheer. They just changed their catering menu, and there's plenty of delectable things that will have your guest saying "Wow." With pastries, cookies, and gourmet cakes there is little they don't do. Provence Breads & Café was established in 1996 by Terry Carr-Hall and a group of financiers who had the single goal of establishing a world class bakery specializing in artisan breads and pastries. The inspiration for Provence came from a summer spent at l’Ecole Française de Boulangerie d’Aurillac, a French baking school specifically for French Artisan Breads. After spending time apprenticing in a number of Boulangeries and Patisseries in the south of France, the idea was born to capture the region’s unique flavors in both foods and baking. Fortunately, they brought these unique flavors to Nashville. Don't think these flavors only come in sweets. They also serve breakfast and lunch with items such as French toast and Croque Monsieur, and, like every good cafe, they serve soups and salads. Plus if you want one of their sandwiches but don't have time to eat in house, you can get one that is already prepared and ready to go. Check it out and let their team and our team know what you think on social media. |

The Corner Market Catering CompanyWebsiteHere you’ll find food prepared with passion, made with the finest raw ingredients according to our most trusted recipes. Come see us at our new little jewel of a store, and enjoy the flavors of the old Corner Market! The original Corner Market was founded in 1988 by Emily and Jim Frith. It was Nashville’s original and most celebrated gourmet grocery, but it was also a neighborhood hangout and a great lunch spot. After a 16 year run, the Corner Market closed in 2004. It was the end of an era. But Emily and Jim stayed in the kitchen, and started a thriving catering business. In early 2011, the Catering Company evolved into the Corner Market Catering Company. In addition to catering weddings, luncheons, cocktail parties, and corporate events, they also provide wholesale prepared foods for the Produce Place, and make vast quantities of the famous Sesame Vinaigrette salad dressing. Come see us in our tiny new retail store brimming with good things to eat! The Corner Market Catering Company is a member of Edible Nashville's Artisan Collective, a community of creatives crafting quality products right here in Music City.
