A Brunch of Good Reasons to Eat at 1 Kitchen
It is a truth universally recognized that there are few better ways to unwind from a hard week’s work than to hang out on the weekend with some good friends over an expertly prepared and laid out brunch. And, for that, you need a place that has both the venue and the menu, providing an inviting and vibrant space along with the tempting choices to pile atop the plates.
Well, good news Nashville, there’s a place in town that has all your brunch needs covered: 1 Kitchen located on the ground floor of 1 Hotel Nashville. For those of you who don’t yet know, 1 Kitchen, like the luxury hotel in which it’s housed, is dedicated to sustainable practices and to local sourcing, a true farm-to-table downtown restaurant that, starting this Saturday the 17th, offers brunch! Culinary Director Chris Crary and his team have crafted a weekend brunch menu that, akin to the evenings’ entrees, are both ingredient-driven and zero waste; great taste and responsible consumption are not incompatible! For example, the team repurposes citrus peels and coffee grounds to infuse into entrees, liquors, and batched cocktails.
“Nature takes center stage and ingredients take center plate,” comments Chris. “We’re consciously and creatively minimizing waste — from sourcing compostable alternatives to plastic, to working directly with haulers to ensure our waste is properly sorted and handled so that it reduces the amount that actually reaches the landfill. We’ve already eliminated easy-to-replace single-use plastics such as cups, bottles, and straws by providing recycled glassware in our kitchens and offering compostable and recyclable take-away materials wherever possible. We also go to great lengths to find the best possible local and sustainable ingredients, as well as partners and farmers, to create one-of-a-kind culinary experiences for our guests.”
That sure sounds good to us! We at Edible look forward to raising a toast with 1 Kitchen’s take on classic brunch cocktails such as the Music City Bloody and the Honey Mimosa while enjoying such brunch classics such as Waffle French Toast, Oat Cakes and Avocado Toast, knowing that the “secret sauce” of sustainability is served with each dish.
1 Kitchen will be open for brunch Saturdays and Sundays from 10am – 3pm, with live music from 11am – 1pm. Additionally, and only for brunch service, 1 Kitchen will showcase an Aperol Spritz cart and herb station, where the 1 Kitchen beverage team will be mixing up specialty spritzes for guests.
