The Glow of Our Fall Farm Dinner at West Glow Farm
The skies over West Glow Farm in Kingston Springs may have been gray and wet on October 24th, but no drizzle could fizzle the sizzle of yet another elegant Edible Nashville Farm Dinner. Our guests, tucked warm and dry inside West Glow Farm's decidedly cavernous and definitely luxurious Dunvegan Barn, sat safely spaced at each party's individual and artifully arranged table. As musicians Carly Rogers and Chris Lolly provided live music from the barn's hangar-like and wide-open doors, guests enjoyed course after course of locally sourced foods and flavors expertly crafted by chefs James Kerwin, Robert Bossman, and Edible Nashville's own executive chef, Skylar Bush. A good part of what was on the menu came from the 65-acre farm itself: the 26 hens laid the main ingredient for the West Glow Farm Deviled Eggs with Pickled Mustard; the stacks of spored oak logs provided the shiitakes for the Smoked Tomahawk Short Rib with Roasted Root Vegetables, Black Garlic Glaze, and Mushroom Chips; and the raised beds of organic soil produced pecks of peppers, the edible envelopes for one of the evening's starters -- Chicken Sausage Stuffed Lunchbox Peppers with Fermented Pepper Sauce.
West Glow Farm served as the ideal venue not just for its physical beauty and luxurious barn, but because the farm practices what Edible Nashville preaches: the loving stewardship of the land and the mindful maintenance of community. In addition to the farm's no-till, permanent raised bed and compost system on the five acres dedicated to growing organic crops, West Glow contributes fresh produce to The Heimerdinger Foundation, a Nashville nonprofit providing healthy meals to cancer patients.
A huge thank you to our generous partners: Uncle Nearest Whiskey, Maypop Sparkling Water, Honeytree Meadery, TN Grass Fed Farm, Ladies of the Lamb, and Moonshot Coffee.
