The Public House at Urban Cowboy

Perhaps I’m incredibly out of the loop, but up until this summer I was completely unaware you could stay in a hauntingly gorgeous mansion in East Nashville.

I was aware of Urban Cowboy Public House, due to the delicious pizza served up by Roberta’s nightly and the laid-back evening vibes that provided the perfect drop-in spot to meet friends, but I paid no mind to the historic Victorian mansion next door, assuming it was private property of some kind.

To my delight, it was actually a hotel, with stunning sitting rooms, a cozy secluded bar, and eight experiential suites, perfectly hidden behind a lobby wall.

My husband and I were looking for a place to celebrate our wedding anniversary and Urban Cowboy provided the perfect retreat from our everyday lives. We stayed in The Rose Room and enjoyed unique features like a claw food tub and shower, original 1890s wallpaper, and comfortable king bed.

After a night of dining and drinking on the town, we closed out our night with live jazz and a nightcap at the Public House before slinking off to our room. (I highly recommend taking a pour of Amaro with you. Even if you leave it on your bedside table unfinished, it will be delicious while you pack to leave.) In the morning, we were surprised to find the Parlor Wine Bar had transformed into an adorable breakfast spread with coffee, bagels, and more, tended by the wonderful staff.

I could have wiled away the entire first half of the day in the enchanting sitting rooms, but alas it was time to head home. As we drove away, we couldn’t stop talking about the incredible experience we had and how we wished we could extend our time. If we had another night, we could enjoy more time in the Parlor Bar garden, take a drink out onto the perfect wrap around porch, and (of course) try another pizza. Urban Cowboy truly is a beautiful thing: the perfect place to feel a part of Nashville yet tucked away in your own little world.

Next time you’re looking for a night away without going too far, make Urban Cowboy the call. We’re already looking forward to an excuse to stay again.
