Return To The Root

Bartender Kalaway Voss created this impressive cocktail with layers of flavors that looks more intimidating to make than it is! Make the spiced syrup and vanilla cream ahead of time using the linked recipes and impess your holiday party guests with this luxurious libation.

    Ingredients

    • 2 ouncesSlow & Low Rock & Rye whiskey
    • 1/2 ouncespiced demerara syrup
    • 1/4 ounceLuxardo Maraschino
    • 1/4 ounceFernet-Branca
    • 16 dropsWoodford Reserve Sassafras & Sorghum Bitters
    • splashtonic
    • sprayAbsinthe
    • black pepper laced vanilla cream
    • 1brandy cherry for garnish

    1. Combine ingredients except tonic and absinthe in a mixing glass with ice and stir until very cold.

    2. Pour absinthe into a small spray bottle and mist serving glass.

    3. Pour cocktail into glass and top with tonic.

    4. Layer vanilla cream on top of drink and garnish with a brandy cherry (or any high quality cherry such as Luxardo or Amarena)
