It's Summer.... Get Cooking!
LETTER FROM THE EDITOR:
Tornadoes. Pandemic. Protests. The world is changing. We’re struggling to keep Edible Nashville relevant, useful, and afloat just like everyone. We pondered our place in the current times and how to use our platform responsibly. Where we landed is this: We have always included folks from all backgrounds and ethnicities in our pages and will continue to do so. Food is community and community is by definition, inclusive. Differences evaporate when discussing food and who cooks the best ribs or BBQ or biscuits. Globally and locally.
Like everyone else, we cancelled our farm dinners and events this spring, but found ourselves wanting to contribute and do what we do best - cook and bring folks together. As a result, we’re hosting our first “mini” farm dinner on July 11 at Farm and Fiddle in Fly, TN. There will be plenty of social distancing and more mini farm dinners to come. Sign up for our newsletter at ediblenashvilleevents.com to stay updated.
Speaking of cooking, check out our summer cooking videos on Instagram @ediblenash. Go to IGTV or ediblenashville.com to see them. This issue has
plenty of cooking. Typically, July/August is our Farmer Issue, but as it came together it was clear it was our happy issue (not that farmers aren’t happy). Whether you’re unemployed, housebound, or just COVID weary, we hope you find this issue bright, hopeful, and rejuvenating. Happy summer. Take a road trip. Visit a farmers market. Cook something. Send us an email at jill@ediblenashville.com.
