How We Met
We met a year and a half before we started dating at a mutual friend’s going away party at Burger Up. We became Facebook friends and a year or so later I messaged him because we had been “Facebook Flirting” a little bit. Such a modern-day way of meeting! He was on tour and when he got home, we went to Coco’s Italian Market for our first date and the rest is history. We bonded over music and food and now that’s basically still all we do. I love to show him the beauty of amazing food and ingredients and growing it yourself and he loves to broaden my music taste and show me artists and music I’ve never heard of before. We make a good team! But if you ever ask Miles how we met, he tells everyone it was on Farmersonly.com.

The Wedding
We had a very small wedding of 35 close friends and family so me and my mama planned it together on our farm at my parent’s house, which is the house that I grew up in. I got ready in the same bathroom my sisters and I grew up getting ready for school in; where we took baths and laughed and cried and fought and did each other’s hair. My sisters helped me put my dress on and I walked right downstairs and grabbed my daddy’s hand and walked out the front door onto the porch. It was perfect.

Biggest Splurge
Definitely my dress. When we went to get it, I knew that we weren’t going to be having a huge wedding. So, getting a dreamy, Stevie Nicks witchy dress was exactly what I wanted and what we decided we would splurge on. I still dream of that dress every day and hope that I can wear it again one day!

A Family Affair
My perfect mama did EVERYTHING. She cooked dinner, which was linguini, Italian bread, and fresh garden salad. She also did all of the decor and the calligraphy for each place setting. Miles’ oldest sister, Violet (definitely our favorite person in the world), got ordained so she could marry us, though we actually got legally married on September 9th (2 months before) in Versailles, KY (where Miles is from) in his grandparents’ living room, so his grandmother, Mimi, who didn’t have much time left, could attend.

The Food
In addition to the Italian meal, Gifford’s Bacon (Andy and Nathan) knocked out the best grazing table I’ve ever had with smoked meats that they do themselves and other items from my store, and my friend Kelly Chandler with Polly Sparrow Bakes made the most beautiful cakes I’ve ever had. She did mine to look like my dress covered in amethysts, and she made Miles’ cake to reflect Kentucky basketball and music, two things he loves.

Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue
Old: I wore my great grandmother’s beaded clogs.
New: my dress from Dress Theory in Nashville.
Borrowed: 2 charms that were in my bouquet from my cousin Kathleen. She let me borrow them because she had them on her own bouquet from her wedding and they have pictures of our grandparents in them. I cried when she let me use them. It was perfect.
Blue: a ring with a blue stone we bought the day we got married.

Favorite Moment
Seeing Miles under the arch waiting for me was my first favorite. Second was right before my daddy and I walked outside. He handed me a Miller Lite under my veil, I chugged half- then he chugged the other half, said, “Let’s do this,” and walked me down the aisle. It was the best moment ever.
