Now is peak season for blueberry and blackberry picking at Circle S Farms just a short drive from Nashville, in Lebanon, TN.

You already know that blueberries are a super food full of natural nutritional goodness. That they stave off memory loss, improve circulation, aid digestion, and lower blood pressure. You also know that they contain essential nutrients whose benefits you know –- vitamin K and vitamin C –and some that you may not know -–anthocyanins and zeaxanthin.

With so many benefits of this remarkable little-berry-that-could, it seems as if it is only a matter of time before some scientist discovers that blueberries also watch the kids, do the laundry, and clean the cat box. And what American breast does not swell with pride knowing that blueberries are native to North America?

Should you feel the blueberry love (and who wouldn’t?), you can check out pickyourown.org for a blueberry farm near you. (To do these super berries justice, attach little capes to them before dropping them in your bucket; they like that.)

Bring them home. Rinse them off and bake them up in this little cake that could.
