To walk into the new Slim & Husky’s Pizza and Beeria is to walk into true Nashville. It’s a mix of old and new: subway tiles adorn the wall with long wooden community tables taking up the majority of the room. Hip hop hovers above the room, accompanied by old school movies projected onto two white walls. Opening day was packed. A true experience in community. If, no, when, you go to Slim and Husky’s, here’s what to expect:

Join the line that swirls through the entrance and almost out the door. Eager eyes pour over this new old space in North Nashville. Just north of Germantown, it’s a spot for locals, by locals. Build your own pie, or choose from signature pies that cover the works. Pies covered in three types of pepperonis, pies covered in pesto deliciousness. Two sizes: Slim and Husky, 10’ and 14’. Long, oval shaped pizzas are stretched through what looks like a pasta machine, slathered in sauce, adorned with toppings, and run through a conveyor belt oven. Any of the incredibly friendly staff members, look at home and comfortable despite only being officially open only two days.

Take your slim or husky tokens, depending on your order, to the counter where you can pay—or add a brew from their long list of local craft brews on tap. Beer not your thing? Grab a can of Underwood wine. Eat it there or take it to go, and count down the days until their spacious patio opens. Say hello to your new neighborhood pizza joint—open late.
