Crystal De Luna-Bogan is Keeping Things Local
Better get your local berries before Crystal De Luna-Bogan gets them all. Crystal and husband Joseph, owners and founders of The Grilled Cheeserie are serious about keeping things local. And right now that includes tapping Bloomsbury Farm, No. 9 Farms, and Green Door Gourmet for their fresh berries.
Ever since the company’s beginning Crystal has taken great care in sourcing her ingredients. When she launched The Grilled Cheeserie food truck in 2014 she immediately partnered with Kenny’s Farmhouse Cheese to craft a cheese for her sandwiches. Now she’s supporting local producers and artisans at her new “brick and mortar” store in Hillsboro Village. The ice cream for their milkshakes comes from the Pied Piper Creamery, a local and well-loved ice cream shop in East Nashville, and the milk is all Tennessee milk from Creation Gardens. Local sugar-peddler, Bang Candy, and their sugar syrups add the extra “wow” to their inventive milkshakes.
From start to finish, Crystal is intentional and thoughtful about where their food comes from and where it ultimately ends up (all of their waste gets turned to usable compost by Compost Nashville).
And the local berries…Crystal freezes them for fresh berry shakes in the off-season. So if Crystal beats you to them, no worries.
