The Silly GooseWebsiteWhether you are vegetarian or simply a lover of vegetables, you can always count on Chef Roderick Bailey of The Silly Goose to offer something extraordinary: Global tastes with local ingredients. One of his small plates, called Rapp, is a gorgeous assembly that picks up on tastes of a Spanish tapas bar: Crisp Yukon gold potatoes and haricots verts (french green beans) are dressed in hazelnut romesco, paprika oil and shavings of manchego cheese. Under his S.V.S. heading—that’s Summer Vegetable Selection—you might find ribbons of cucumber laced with fresh corn, blueberries, cashews and minted Greek yogurt. Or, arugula, layered with roasted patty pan squash, corn, and smoked red pepper goat cheese and sherry vinaigrette. (Nancy Vienneau, Vegetable Plates We Love) |

Up, a Rooftop LoungeWhy We Love It: OK y'all, the above photo is not a rendering, but a real photo of the view from UP, a Rooftop Lounge. It's almost covertly placed above the Fairfield Inn & Suites in the Gulch. Who knew? The lounge on the roof, does indeed have this awesome view, that so far, another high rise does not block. (So get it while you can). Needless to say it's the perfect place to bring just about, well, anyone--your parents, kids, spouse or date. Maybe most importantly, a date. If the conversation drags, well you have the view. It focuses on upscale libations with an eclectic menu featuring shareable plates. Their hand-crafted cocktails are made with homemade syrups and purees. The lounge features inside and outside seating with magnificent views from just about anywhere. This upscale, country chic, 80 seat lounge and atmosphere will create a sense of belonging for anyone who visits. Before you decide on an entree choose a wine off of the extensive list, or ask about the bonnie & brown. Share a tasting plate or a fresh caprese salad among your group to get the evening started. We recommend a summery roasted squash salad or the mouth-watering bacon jam minis. Oh, and don't forget dessert! The chocolate pot's de créme and the cronuts are both incredible. Find out more about Up, a Rooftop Lounge here. Up is located on top of the Fairfield Inn & Suites in the Gulch community, between Nashville’s music row and downtown. |
Bakeries & Patisseries
Village Bakery and ProvisionsVillage Bakery and Provisions is currently working out of Citizen Kitchens. You can find Sam's breads at MEEL, AVO, Salt & Vine and Crema.
We love this quirky bakery and cafe, one of the newest residents of the Nashville Farmers' Market. Located a bit off the beaten path, it's not to be missed. Their Goshen, golden brioche dough filled with almond paste, are the best pastries we've had in town. As were their baguettes. Located next to Bella Nashville, it's the first solo project from chef Sam Tucker, a veteran of the local restaurant scene who most recently was the opening sous chef at The 404 Kitchen. There are freshly-baked breads and pastries, as well as to-go offerings such as salads and sandwiches. Hours are Tuesday through Saturday 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Sunday 12 to 3 p.m., with plans to extend those times in the near future.
