Ron Camacho and wife, Ellen of Care Kitchen Outreach rescued over 7 tons of food for the needy.

Ron Camacho is a character, at 6’4” and 350 pounds. He never meets a stranger and wife (of 23 years) Ellen is not far behind in the enthusiasm. Together as “Care Kitchen Outreach” they are a force when it comes to serving meals to the needy, having rescued over 7 tons of food from going to waste in 1 year. Today, in addition to getting food donated from farms and organizations, they’re growing, harvesting and cooking acres of pattypan squash for the hungry.

Ron talks so fast with such excitement and passion for his calling that its hard to follow along. He has a name for all of their projects. There was the “Crazy Camacho Care Kitchen” at the Brentwood Baptist Church, where they served food to cancer patients. There’s “Tailgate Preselytizing” at the Church of the Avenue South, where they mentored children from Connor Lawrence Elementary, and “Gems for Jesus.” This was followed by feeding folks between Thanksgiving and Christmas at Easley Commuunitiy Center where they gave out “happy sacks” with cajun turkeys and all the fixin’s.
