Butterlamp
Amanda G. Collins
Neatly tucked into the neighborhood of East Nashville, Butterlamp is a bread house and wine bar located inside of a historic church on Chapel Avenue. It’s owned and run by husband and wife, Benjamin and Katie Rose Tyson, who can usually be found working in the kitchen or behind the bar. Walk up to the window and pick up your weekly loaf of bread or grab a seat at the bar.
I recently brought some friends who were visiting from out of town. We were taken care of by Ally and everything she recommended was exactly what we didn’t know we needed, from the sparkling Gamay to the tomato toast(housemade sourdough with local cherry tomatoes, poached and dressed in “really good olive oil” with bread miso, garlic and pickled kombu). In the most unpretentious way, Butterlamp is where I go to make believe I’m drinking wine in another country for a few hours.
