Our Food Picks: Week of 09/05
Fabulous fresh veggie dishes, chicken soup and hangar steak top this weeks food picks around town.
El Palenque on Crestmoor Road in the heart of Green Hills has the most delightful chicken soup. Hearty with lots of pulled chicken and spanish rice, it's made super fresh with loads of tomato and fresh avocado. Perfect for lunch or dinner with chips and salsa. Plenty to take a doggie bag home too.

Salt & Vine off Charlotte Pike is not a vegetarian restaurant. But their way with seasonal vegetables is sublime. The Radish Toast is the bomb. We don't throw around that phrase often, but it's just the truth. Radish slices atop a crunchy toast and a slather of double cream cheese and smoked salt. Disclaimer--it's just served at dinner. The Watermelon Burrata salad with arugula is also a delicious fresh dish that honestly we could have taken a bath in. Yum! Perfect for warm September days.

The Hangar Steak with Boursin Polenta, Roasted Carrots and Chimmichurri is a slam dunk on the fun menu at the new Fort Louise in East Nashville. We devoured it as well as the guests at the tables around us. Fresh for warm weather with the sprightly chimmichurri sauce, yet comforting for cooler fall days. Score!
