Perfect Mashed Potatoes

Ingredients

  • 6 large russet potatoes, peeled and quartered
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup whole milk or half and half
  • salt and white pepper to taste

Preparation

1.  Add potatoes to cold, salted water in pot on the stove. Bring to a boil and cook about 20 minutes, or until fork tender. Drain and put back into pot. Dry potatoes in pot over medium high heat about 30 seconds.

2.  Heat butter and milk in saucepan over medium heat until butter is melted. Mash potatoes in pot two or three times. Add butter mixture and mash until fluffy. Add seasonings or herbs.
