Cheddar Chive Scones

On a trip to visit my sister in Princeton, New Jersey, we harvested a heap of chives, and baked up these savory scones to accompany a dinner of Porchetta and rich Chocolate Brownies. These are not rolled out, but dropped into mounds with an ice cream scoop or spoon.

    Ingredients

    • 2 1/2 cups flour
    • 1 tablespoon sugar
    • 1 tablespoon baking powder
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • 1/2 cup (2 ounces) grated sharp cheddar cheese
    • 8 tablespoons cold butter, cut into small pieces
    • 3 tablespoons fresh chopped chives
    • 2/3 cup milk

    Preparation

    1

    1. Preheat overn to 425F. Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and. Stir in cheese. Add butter and mix until mixture resembes coarse meal. Add chives and milk and mix until a sticky dough comes together. Don’t over mix. With a ice cream scoop (or spoon) scoop dough into 12 scones. Bake 10-12 minutes or until golden brown. Makes 12 scones.
