Bryan Weaver, dedicated to Nashville and his industry.

Edible Communities and Edible Nashville are proud to partner with natural meats pioneer Niman Ranch to help celebrate these too often-underappreciated heroes. From the farm fields to restaurants to grocery store aisles, we are seeing unexpected heroes step up to bring wholesome meals to their neighbors in need. These heroes are making personal sacrifices, putting themselves on the frontlines to help their neighbors. Our first one is...

Bryan Lee Weaver is the local food wizard and businessman behind Red Headed Stranger and Butcher and Bee - Nashville. He has helped establish a Charleston staple in Nashville, with his work at B&B, and created one of the best Hatch chile burgers this side of the Mississippi at RHS. Bryan’s love for community and the service industry he has helped build in Nashville has never been more evident than in these trying times.

Late into the night on March 2nd, a deadly tornado ripped through Music City. In its wake, the twister left a trail of destruction throughout the East Nashville neighborhood that is home to both of Bryan’s establishments. Lucky, that none of employees were hurt and that neither building was damaged too badly, Bryan began utilizing his kitchens and providing food for the relief workers responding to the tornado relief efforts. While most owner/operators would take a step back and try to figure out what to do, Chef Weaver took action by reaching a helping hand to those helping others.

Two weeks later, when the Coronavirus began to cripple the food industry, Bryan sent a heartfelt and deservedly concerned text to about 25 influential chefs and owners in Nashville. In this text his sense of urgency, community and speaking truth to power could not have been more evident. Less than 24 hours after he spread his message, the Tennessee Action for Hospitality was born. This coalition has been responsible for bringing the struggles of the industry to light in front of Tennessee’s legislators, raising donations for affected businesses, and banding together Nashville’s service industry like it has never been seen before. Bryan’s impact and leadership during these times of crisis have created a movement that will sustain in Music City for years to come. Food is about community and no one embodies that more than Bryan Weaver.
