The Yellow Rose Tea - August 17th

In 1920, afternoon tea was a staple in the parlors and salons of women across the country. As talk of ratification for the women's right to vote escalated, these gatherings of the community became more campaign events than social affairs. To commemorate the 100th anniversary of the 19th amendment, The Hermitage Hotel is hosting an Afternoon Tea the day before the historic vote. The tea will mimic afternoon tea from 1920 including recipes for tea sandwiches and desserts from The Women Suffrage Cook Book published by Mrs. Hattie A. Burr. Guests of The Yellow Rose Tea will enjoy:

  • Tea sandwiches, scones, and pastries
  • Luxurious loose leaf tea by In Pursuit of Tea
  • A commemorative keepsake menu
  • A visit with Mary Morgan Ketchel, author of newly released Camilla Can Vote
  • Entertaining stories from "Anne Dallas Dudley"
  • A caricature artist available for portraits of guests

Seatings are available at 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM. Reservations and pre-payment are required.

$60.00 Per Person | $35.00 Per Child (10 and under)

*A note on social distancing: The Hermitage Hotel has partnered with Meharry Medical Center to ensure the utmost safety in practices for our employees and guests. For The Yellow Rose Afternoon Tea, we have designed the event with care and distancing in mind. The room will be at no more than 50% capacity with all tables spaced more than 6 feet apart, all menus will be single-use, guests are asked to wear masks when entering the building and until they are seated for tea, when moving around the building, as well as when exiting.
