The Dreamers Food Truck Cooks Up A Whole Lot of Heart
Dreamers food truck is so much more than a food truck; it’s also a community center and creativity platform. Beyond their specialty pizzas and bowls, Dreamers prepares allergen friendly, gluten free, and dairy free options well above a side salad.
Originally started early in the pandemic as “a pandemic pivot,” musicians Doug and Telisha Williams and photographer Laura Schneider began Dreamers Food Truck by creating and serving fresh, simple food. Unfortunately, the first week they launched, a fire ravaged the inside of the truck. The trio (aptly known as the dreamers) took salvageable ingredients from the fire that weekend and made meals for the homeless. Addressing food insecurity is at the forefront of the rebuilt food truck where they strive to serve the community by providing healthy food and a kinship around it. Their “pay it forward” menu option in partnership with local non-profit SAFPAW (Southern Alliance For People And Animal Welfare), allows them to take the food truck out to the communities they’ve been serving to distribute sponsored meals monthly. A beautiful full-circle enterprise that benefits the locals in so many ways.
Waiting for your food? The dreamers encourage you to take one of their creative prompts and build something, write something, dance something, or take a photograph – whatever soothes your creative soul. They’re determined to not only nourish your body but fuel your creative spark as well.
And for the cozy fall nights at home, cook up some of their Black Bean Roasted Poblano Soup.
