Where We're Eating in Nashville in November and December 2023

ESP (East Side Pho), The Wash, Gallatin Pike

We love the sprightly ESP salad and the noodles at this sister restaurant to East Side Banh Mi, located in The Wash on Gallatin. But the pho is perfect for cold, dreary winter days and when you need comfort over the hectic holidays. Parking severely limited.

Nelson’s Green Brier Distillery Restaurant

This open and bright new addition to the distillery is currently open for lunch only. Chef Joey Ray has a deft touch with fried foods and seasonings. Paying homage to the German roots of the Nelson brothers, the menu includes pork schnitzel and also a croque madame with Gifford’s smoked bologna. The fries—thin and spot on. Have to wait ‘til next season for the soft shell crab sandwich though.

Iberian Pig, The Gulch

For those of you that have lived here longer than five years, you’ll recognize this new restaurant as the old Colts Chocolate factory, albeit with less parking. The meats and cheese are stellar, as are all the tapas. A true Spanish experience down to the Basque cheesecake. Ask for Trish.

Stay Golden, Berry Hill

One of the best breakfast/brunch places in town. This fast-casual coffee shop roasts their own coffee (Good Citizen Coffee Co.) and has some of the best biscuits in town. The pumpkin waffle is fire if you have a sweet tooth, and the farro bowl is a thing of beauty. Tell Jamie Edible sent ya.

The Thompsons Kitchen, Fairview

This great spot on Highway 100 (previously home to Harvest by LabCanna, among other things) is run by experienced caterers Rodney and Gemma Thompson. The menu is globally inspired with a great mix of salads, pasta and sandwiches.

Frankies Spuntino, East Nashville

Opened this summer, Frankies Nashville is the first expansion of the legendary Frankies Spuntino outside of New York City. The Nashville “campus,” as they call it, houses the original restaurant, Frankies 925 Spuntino: a craft slice shop with a specialty market and a Bottega coming soon.

What’s New & Happening Around Town

Sean Brock’s Continental closed and has reopened as Bar Continental, a high-fidelity record bar and lounge.

Benji’s Bagel & Coffee House, from New York, is set to open on Charlotte in November.

Bad Idea, a wine-centric restaurant in East Nashville.
