Americano Hot Chicken Rub Recipe

Nashville native, Chef Tyler Saracino, of Americano Freestyle Tapas Bar & Restaurant has stuck to his roots despite the ever-changing landscape of the local food scene. He has kindly shared his recipe for a spicy hot chicken rub (perfect for a Nashville twist on tacos!) so that you can get a taste of traditional Nashville right in your own home.

And just in time for Cinco de Mayo.

HERE’S WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

(measurements can be adjusted depending on how spicy you’re feeling)

2 parts smoked paprika

1 part garlic powder

1 part chili powder

1 part salt

1 part brown or white granulated sugar

½ part black peppercorn

½ part cayenne

INSTRUCTIONS:

1.     Mix all dry ingredients in a bowl.

2.     Grind very well in a coffee/spice grinder.

3.     Glass of sweet tea with a lemon garnish (optional, but you might need it!)
