It's a Strawberry Weekend!

Despit the tsunami spring Nasvhille's been having, strawberry celebrations are abounding this weekend. Nope, a little rain ain't going to get in the way with our favorite berry. Start at the Nashville Farmers' Market for their Strawberry Festival. There will be tastings, a demo in The Edible Kitchen by Chef Brian Riggenbach who will be whipping up a strawberry gazpacho with a strawberry pico. Demo starts at 11:30. Mayer Megan Barry rings in the season at 11am. Yum

Not enough, head over to The Produce Place for their strawberry festival complete with homemade tamales by The Tamale Sisters. Sylvan Park. 

Want something further afield? Head up to Portland, TN for their strawberry festival next weekend. 

Want to get in the weeds yourself? Head out to Kelly's Berry Farm or Delvins, who has a u-pick for the first season. Go picking at these local u-pick farms. 

Once you come home with your stash, whip up a Buttermilk Cake, Fresh Strawberry Pie, or ice cream.
