Farm Fresh Bloody Mary

Make the most out of the last heirloom tomatoes of the season with this fresh Bloody Mary from Reyka hand crafted Icelandic vodka who sponsored our July Farm Dinner. We recommend making it with Reyka, but you can use whatever vodka you have around (or, what the hey - gin). When it comes time to garnish - have fun! There are so many combinations of farm fresh vegetables to choose from.

Ingredients

fresh bloody mary mix
  • 8 heirloom tomatoes, quartered
  • handful basil, oregano, and rosemary
  • Icelandic black lava rock salt
  • black pepper
  • fresh hot peppers, diced, optional
  • Worcestershire sauce
  • pickle juice
  • hot sauce
bloody mary
  • 2 ounces vodka, such as Reyka
  • 6 ounces fresh Bloody Mary mix

Preparation

1.  To prepare Bloody Mary mix, add tomatoes to saucepan over medium-high heat. Once tomatoes start to cook down, add herbs and salt and pepper to taste. (Also add fresh hot peppers, if using.) Bring to a light boil and simmer 20 minutes.

2.  Remove from heat and cool to room temperature. Place cooled mixture in blender and puree until smooth. Add Worcestershire, pickle juice, and hot sauce to taste. (Makes enough mix for 8 cocktails.)

3.  To prepare Bloody Mary, stir ingredients together over ice. Garnish with rainbow carrots, dill, and any farm fresh vegetables.
