Artville is a three-day festival bringing Nashville together for the love of art. September 29 — October 1, 2023
Artville, a new three-day visual art festival in Nashville’s Wedgewood Houston and Chestnut Hill neighborhoods, declared its public artists today. Announced in March, this first-of-its-kind public art festival in Nashville will be taking place September 29 – October 1, 2023, free to the community.

Throughout the weekend, renowned visual artists will be creating unique art installations that will only be available that weekend. Local Artville Public Artists include (in alphabetical order) Andrés Bustamante, Lindsy Davis, Troy Duff, Rachel Hayes, Brett Douglas Hunter, Alex Lockwood, Bryce McCloud, Beth Reitmeyer, Kit Reuther, Camilla Spadafino, Vadis Turner, Yanira Vissepo, and Herb Williams. Artville Walls, the mural project, will feature unique works and murals by Jeremiah Britton, Joe Geis, Violet Hill, Meg Pollard, Xavier Payne, Maggie Sanger, and Brian Wooden.

With the mission to create an annual visual arts fair that highlights Nashville’s creative culture through public art installations, immersive experiences, and opportunities for art collecting, founders Samantha Saturn and Jack Davis envision Artville becoming a city-wide art festival. Like many growing cities across America, Nashville has an opportunity to invest in local artists' projects and create art-focused programming on a large scale to drive arts-related tourism, further supporting Nashville’s growing community of visual artists, galleries, as well as art museums and cultural institutions. Artville is funded in part by The Nashville Convention & Visitors Corp supporting this vision of an expanded visual arts weekend.

To kick off the weekend of events, Artville will host a conversation with Derrick Adams, a multi-disciplinary artist whose work is centered around themes of Black culture in America. This free event will be moderated by Frist Art Museum senior curator Katie Delmez in connection with the upcoming exhibition Multiplicity: Blackness in Contemporary American Collage, which features Adams’ work and will be on view at the Frist from September 15 through December 31, 2023.

In addition to public art installations, Artville will also include several engaging art programs throughout the weekend including a reimagined American Artisan Festival @ Artville, a curated selection of Nashville’s contemporary art galleries and dealers collectively exhibiting some of their top local and national artists, an After-Dark series of interactive art experiences, music and entertainment, artisanal food, beer, and wine, as well as kids’ art programming. The event will also highlight many community partners and sponsors within the neighborhood that will create unique art-inspired programming throughout the weekend.

Artville is made possible by the generous support of Nashville Convention & Visitors Corp, May Hosiery Mills, Nashville Warehouse Co. Hines, Core Development, Crescent Partners, and Tito’s Handmade Vodka.
