The individual Hallelujah Cake from Dessert Designs in West Nashville is worth singing about.

When someone tells us how great a dish is, we can help but be skeptical as it seldom rises to the pedestal it's been put on. (Exception, the whipped feta with fermented honey at Butcher & Bee.) So when a friend delivered us an individual Hallelujah Cake from Dessert Designs with a note saying ".....omg," we were unimpressed. However one bite of it led to another, and another, each one better than the previous.

The cake is a bit peculiar looking, resembling a praline, (sans the pecans), more tha a slice of cake. But upon cutting into it, we found a vanilla cake with a big crumb, a thin layer of something chocolatey, and finally the voluminous layer of brown sugar "stuff." The "stuff" is not exactly icing like, nor praline like in texture, but somewhere in the middle. In a word, it was delicious and totally addictive. Hallelujah for Dessert Designs, indeed. We can't wait to find out the story behind it.

Dessert Designs is located in West Nasvhille,  850 Hillwood Boulevard Ste 1, Nashville, TN 37209. They specialize in wedding and event cakes.  615-354-9555
