From the Editor

Editor Jill Melton, Chef Maneet Chauhan, and Managing Editor William Goertel at The Edible Kitchen.

A few years ago I was obsessed with British food writer Nigel Slater and his garden. I dreamed of having an English garden lined with boxwoods on my side yard. Well that didn’t happen but I did build 2 raised beds and started digging, planting and watching things grow. I’ve had more failures than I have successes, but watching anything grow is magic. And in November when you’re plucking small cherry tomatoes off a withered vine, it’s pretty great. This issue is packed with inspriation and tips on gardening. To see the Nigel Slater garden go to ediblenashville.com.

Closer to home, this issue marks our 13th and 2 years since we launched the very first Edible Nashville in March/April 2015. Since then we’ve launched a number of programs, including The Edible Kitchen, which takes place the first and third Saturdays at the Nashville Farmers’ Market. Local chefs cook with what’s in season and our farmers graciously donate thier products and time. Enjoy this issue.
