Become a Certified River Friendly Farm

Are you a farmer who uses regenerative agricultural practices? Are you interested in partnering with the Cumberland River Compact to promote your stewardship efforts and share your conservation story?
In 2021, the Cumberland River Compact launched a new effort to seek out and showcase farms in the Cumberland River watershed that utilize river-friendly management practices to enhance the health of the land and waters that we all rely on.
If you’re passionate about conservation on your farm and looking to join a growing community of farmers who go the extra mile to ensure the health of our soil, our water, and our future, we encourage you to apply to become a River Friendly Certified Farm through the Cumberland River Compact.
Through the River Friendly Farm certification, the Cumberland River Compact recognizes farmers who are exemplary stewards of land and water resources, supports their conservation journey through marketing and partnerships, and educates the public and its 10,000+ supporters about the importance of their efforts.
The Cumberland River Compact has worked to enhance our watershed for 25 years through educational programs, restoration projects, collaborations, and volunteer work. Together, the Cumberland River Compact and River Friendly Farms promote clean water, healthy soil, biodiverse wildlife habitats, and climate resiliency.
Certified River Friendly farms stand out as model land stewards in Tennessee and Kentucky, showcasing stewardship practices that build soil health and protect valuable water resources.
The program is currently FREE to applicants and includes a farm application, certification farm visit, and ongoing educational and marketing opportunities.
Farms that meet program criteria use the River Friendly Farm Certification to exemplify their commitment to stewardship, differentiate their products, strengthen their brands, and support credible claims for environmental responsibility.
