TO BEE (POLLEN) OR NOT…
Bee pollen’s little golden granules look intriguing in a bottle but what exactly is it? Bees collect pollen from plants and flowers, and bring it back to the hive carried on their hind legs. Some hives are outfitted with a pollen trap that the bees have to squeeze through to enter the hive. When they do, the holes in the trap scrape part of the pollen off their hind legs. The pollen is collected and dried to become the bee pollen we see in jars. It is high in nutrients, but the jury is out as to its efficacy in staving off allergies or illness.
