Introduction to Bee Keeping
The Nashville Area Beekeepers Association (NABA) will offer its beginning beekeeping course that is designed to provide information on how to become and succeed as a beekeeper. The course is open to everyone with an interest.
Vendors: Several beekeeping vendors will be on site with beekeeping equipment to purchase and opportunities to order bees for the spring.
Suggested Parking: Nashville Library Garage (across the street from the Renaissance) - Enter the Library Garage on Sixth or Seventh Avenue South, between Church Street and Commerce Street. $12 for all day parking on Saturdays.
Bonus Session: At 5:30 p.m., after the Bee School concludes you may want to go to the “Bridge Bar” on the second floor of the Renaissance, for an opportunity to have a soda, cocktail, or beer, along with some honey-based appetizers (appetizers courtesy of the Renaissance, cash bar), while you chat informally with other attendees and some long-time beekeepers who can help answer your questions.

- Setting Up and Locating Hives
- Installation of Honey Bees
- Honey Bee Health
- Bee Swarm Control
- Pest and Diseases
- Preparing Colonies for Winter
- How to Assemble Equipment

Admission:
The fee to attend all sessions is $35 and is payable to the NABA. 12 and under are admitted free, but advance registration is required. Your participation includes a one (1) year membership in the NABA, a copy of the University of Tennessee publication entitled “Beekeeping in Tennessee,” and lunch.
