Newroz

If you are anywhere near Newroz Market at lunchtime, it will be hard not to think about gargantuan shwarma sandwiches overflowing with succulent meats and housed in freshly baked breads. Newroz Market is one of several Kurdish markets in the Elysian Fields/Nolensville area, but those in the know think of it as a lunchtime haven for well-priced, customizable sandwiches and wraps. Ask about all of their sauces, as they are numerous. Take a peak around the corner from the shwarma stand and see the brick oven where the bread is baked daily. Also be sure to peruse the aisles for otherwise hard-to-find Middle-Eastern ingredients, such as homemade tahini paste, barrels of nuts and grains, and mounds of spices, for your home cooking experiments.
