comfy couches and a distinct bohemian feel define J&J's Market.

You don’t judge a book – or a café – by its cover.  J & J’s Market & Cafe, despite the quotidian name and the admittedly sketchy appearance, is a true Nashville treasure. For proof, just step inside. Half the space is a grocery with some two dozen varieties of imported chocolates and at least three times that number of imported and locally crafted beers. The other half is the café itself, a refuge for students and artists and any human spirit who goes through life with a bohemian bent.

At J & J’s Market & Cafe, one does not simply sip the dark roasted coffees, the fine teas or the flavored espressos, drinks with names like “Studying Nietzsche,” “Schopenhauer’s Answer,” and “James Brown,” one imbibes the vibe itself, from the eclectic art on the exposed brick walls to the often classical music flowing from the speakers. For bohemian beer lovers, J & J’s Market & Cafe might as well be named Shangri-La.  Not only will your favorite, finely-crafted beer be in stock as a six-pack, but five of them will be kept cold for you in the fridge behind the counter as you sit and savor the flavor of how the world should be.

J & J’s Market & Cafe is generally open 7AM to 11PM except for Sundays which are 10AM to 9PM.  Word on the street has it that J & J’s Market & Cafe might disappear to make way for yet another high-rise condo.  Visit J & J’s Market & Cafe to take your seat against this.
