Stop by Tinwings on 51st Street in the Nations for a takeout lunch or dinner.

If perchance you want to pick something up for an impromptu lunch at the park, or for a meeting, nothing beats the fresh baked bread, Kale Salad and Pimento Cheese at Tinwings in The Nations. Tinwings is run by the lovely Lee Ann Merrick (of Sunset Grill and Williamns-Sonoma fame), and specializes in take out salads--chicken salad, kale salad, pimento cheese--fresh baked artisan bread, and take and bake dinner items such as Greek Chicken, Country Ham and Cheddar Biscuits and Simple Roast Salmon.

We stopped by recently and grabbed the kale salad, pimento cheese and a boule for a quick lunch at home. Perfection. The kale salad is fruity and perfect, the pimento cheese divine (although a 10 second duck in the microwave would have softened it a bit). We ripped off pieces of the crusty, yet soft boule and slathered it with the pimento cheese. WIth the kale salad alongside, it was perfection for the reasonable price of about $20. It's easily lunch for 4 or yourself with plenty of leftovers for the rest of the week. So perchance you need to pick up something to heat up for dinner for the week, nothing beats Tinwings: "Food for Everyday Special." Yep. We agree.
